Queso w/ black beans


  • ~8 oz. of grated cheedar (I used extra sharp)
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (10 oz) tomatoes w/ green chiles, drained, not rinsed (I used Rotelle)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1 packet Goya Sazon
  • 1 tsp ground cumin

How to make Queso w/ black beans

We enjoy this queso often.  Sometimes we switch it up by adding half a package of cream cheese, or some ground beef.  Serve with tortilla chips.
  1. drain and rinse black beans
  2. drain tomatoes w/ green chiles
  3. melt butter in medium sauce pan, add flour, stirring frequently, cook for about 5 minutes
  4. slowly add milk and continue frequent stirring until mixture thickens
  5. add sazon and cumin, cheese, black beans, tomatoes w/ green chiles, mix well
  6. enjoy
