Pan-Baked Sponge Cake


  • 2 eggs
  • 50g Fine Sugar
  • 50 Top Flour, sifted
  • 15g Butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence (optional)

How to make Pan-Baked Sponge Cake

  1. Beat eggs and sugar together till fluffy.
  2. Fold in the flour till well mixed.
  3. Add in melted butter and vanilla essence.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Lay the baking paper on the pan.
  6. Put the baking ring (I used a 15cm ring) in the middle.
  7. Pour the cake mixture into the ring.
  8. Cover the pan.
  9. Start 'baking' with small fire for about 20 minutes.
  10. Let the cake rest in the pan for a further 15 minutes after fire is turned off.
  11. Remove cake from ring and decorate it as you desire.

    oh dear god how can I have only just seen this? the answer to my dreams! (I don't have an oven) thank you so much! does this work for any cake or only this exact mixture?

    Welcome! I dont have oven too! So far, I have only tried using this mixture. My guess is it should work for other mixture too. I think flour used here is very important. I tried using plain flour and it's not as fluffy.

    maybe cake flour would work? less gluten so it's likely to be lighter..

    don't we need baking powder 4 dis cake??? will it be as soft as d normal cakes if we don't use baking powder?
