Mozzarella Salad


  • 2 balls of fresh buffalo mozzarella
  • a small handful of freshly picked basil and mint
  • zest of one lemon
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • balsamic vinegar or lemon juice
  • freshly ground black pepper

How to make Mozzarella Salad

This is another thing I threw together when a friend decided to pop round for dinner. I had some mozzarella in my fridge, but didn't have the tomatoes to do an Insalata Caprese, so just decided to do this anyway, and it was really nice and fresh tasting. I think I would have stuck with just using lemon juice instead of the balsamic for the presentation's sake. (Serves 4 as a light starter)

  1. Thinly slice the mozzarella, and lay it out on a plate with a leaf of basil and mint each in between slices.
  2. Finely grate over some lemon zest, grate some black pepper over generously, and then squeeze the juice of one lemon, or some balsamic vinegar over.
  3. Just before serving, drizzle it with the best extra virgin olive oil you have, and garnish with another sprig of basil or mint. Enjoy!

    i like it with tomatoes too :) oh but you didn't have any :( but lemon sounds nice as well i like sour things
