1 piece puff pastry
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
pinch salt
1/2 cup fine sugar
60 oz butter
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

For filling:

silvered almonds

How to make congress tart

1. Roll pastry thinly and fit in a patty tin lined with paper cup.
2. Brush pastry with jam about a tsp each cup.
3. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and beat well until smooth.
4. Spoon the batter into the pastry case filled with jam.
5. Sprinkle with almonds and bake in preheated oven at 180 C for 30 to 40 mins until golden .

    Congress Tarts Make raw short pastry cases in patty tins. Put a spoonful of jam in each case, and cover with the following mixture: 4 oz ground almonds, capful of almond essence, 2 oz margarine, 2 tablespoons of castor sugar, 1 egg. Mix all together, spread over jam, making sure mixture reaches the edge of the pastry cases. Decorate with strips of pastry if desired. Bake 10-15 mins at 370*F or 190*C or until lightly browned

    thanks for your recipe.. I didnt put ground almond becoz some of my kids dont like almond cake....
