How to make Steamed Pink Tilapia with Ginger and Green Onion

This Steamed Pink Tilapia is so fresh and delicious!  When you look at this photo, you may think it’s hard to make but it is not at all!  This dish is so easy to make.  It takes about 20 minutes to get everything ready but the actual working time is 5 minutes because there is 15 minutes of steaming time.   I use a whole live fish and steam it along with fresh herbs.  The ginger and green onion balance out the fishy smell so you don't have to worry about your whole house smelling like fish.  The right amount of time for steaming makes the fish tender, soft and absorbs all the flavor of the herbs.   I’m pretty sure that you can buy live fish at any Chinatown. When you purchase a live fish they usually descale and clean the it for you to take home.  The soy sauce I used is Seasoned Soy Sauce for Seafood which you can find at any Chinese supermarket.
  1. Use all ingredients except cilantro, and then mix evenly with the tilapia in a plate.  Make sure to fill the inside of the fish with all the ingredients so that it will mix with the fish's natural oils and juices while steaming.  Let it marinate for 10 minutes before steaming
  2. Transfer the plate with fish into a large steamer.  Heat up the steamer.  Once it starts steaming, turn the heat to medium-low.  Steam for 15 minutes.  Take out and than garnish with cilantro on top.  Now you are done!   Enjoy your fresh healthy steamed fish.
