Easy Brown Seaweed Soup Recipe

Easy Brown Seaweed Soup

  • 1 & 2/3 bowls of water
  • 1/2 bowl dried seaweed..can get them from Korean market. Ask for seaweed for soup.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons soy sauce for soup
  • 1/2 bowl diced beef for stew
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (maybe/optional)

By bowl, I mean those Japanses rice bowls

How to make Easy Brown Seaweed Soup

  1. You want to soften the dried seaweed in water. Pour 2/3 bowl of water to the 1/2 bowl of dried seaweed.
  2. leave seaweed for at least 30 minutes to soften.
  3. Once the seaweed looks completely revived like you just caught it from the sea, wash it under running tap water.
  4. Squeeze out excess water from washed seaweed.
  5. Add diced beef + seaweed and dump into saucepan.
  6. Cook those on medium heat with sesame oil until beef doesn't look pink anymore.
  7. Pour in 1 bowl of water to mixture in saucepan.
  8. When it begins to simmer, pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of soy sauce to watery mixture. Always taste after each tablespoon to see if it's seasoned right.
  9. If want more seasoning, add salt..Again always taste-test after you put in a bit of salt!

  1. For beginners, always taste after you put in soy sauce or salt. A small amount of seasoning goes a long way!

  2. I like to eat soup with rice in it (Hence the picture). Just simply pour soup on top of rice in bowl.
